Aus dem Ankündigungstext der Veranstalter: «(…) As the volume of archaeological datasets produced in recent time has increased exponentially, high-definition archaeology advocates for high-performance data collection, intended to solve targeted problems in both space and time. In parallel, recent years have seen the development of various methods and technical innovations that enable archaeology to understand these events and short-term processes: microstratigraphy and soil geochemistry, statistical modelling of radiocarbon dating, stable isotope analyses, and more.
The aim of this symposium is thus not to focus on historical events and famous individuals, but rather on all those fleeting, one-off events. How do we capture these moments? How should they be interpreted? What place should be assigned to them in a discipline that is historically oriented towards structures and the long term? What methods can be used to identify these events? What impact do these discoveries have on a wider scale? These are some of the questions that will guide the discussions of this conference.»
