Biographical note

Ruth Pliego holds a PhD from the University of Seville and is member of a research group of the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology, collaborating in a teaching program for MA studies. Her main research focus is on Numismatics in its broadest sense, covering its economic, cultural and political aspects. She has published an extensive and comprehensive corpus, La moneda visigoda (2 vols., Seville, 2009) and a large number of articles. She has been Fellow 2017-2018 at the Paris Institute for Advanced Study (Paris IAS), hosted by the Ècole Pratique des Hautes Études and she has recently been at the Università di Padova as Visiting Scientist (2018). Currently she is also cooperating in a project based at Princeton University having been a Visiting Fellow in their Classics Department and granted an award by the Firestone Library (2017). Besides this, she has participated in research projects at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the École des Hautes Études hispaniques et ibériques, and Universities of Seville and Malaga, among others. For several years, Dr. Pliego also worked for the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage (Seville) and is presently participating in the Tomares Hoard Project, a long term project of the Archaeological Museum of Seville.
