Sus investigaciones se centran en procesos sociales como la urbanización y la latinización (la difusión del latín) en el Occidente romano, con especial atención a la Península Ibérica en la Antigüedad. Dentro del proyecto ATLAS (www.atlas-cities.com) investiga las ciudades de la Antigüedad Tardía del sur de España y Túnez. Para el proyecto LatinNow (www.latinnow.eu) ha estudiado la difusión del latín durante el periodo imperial, especialmente en aquellos que aprenden a hablar y escribir latín como segunda lengua junto a las lenguas paleohispánicas. Su investigación doctoral ha sido publicada con el título Urbanisation in Roman Spain and Portugal (Routledge 2021).

Para su investigación combina fuentes arqueológicas, epigráficas e históricas para obtener una imagen más clara de los procesos sociales mencionados. Para el estudio de las grandes regiones y conjuntos de datos se apoya en los Sistemas de Información Geográfica.
